Please make the timeslider easier to use

I built an experience that uses a Timeslider. My testing groups biggest pain point is extending the timeslider to multiple months. It is difficult putting the pointer on the slim edge of the box before it goes away.

I made a tutorial GIF to try and demonstrate to users how to use it. The issue seems to be that they have to get their pointer on exactly the outer edge of the box and that's hard for the users to do. 

Could the timeslider edge for the pointer be widened to be more pixels?
