Have a true "identify" (popup), not "select" when clicking on a feature on the map.

Experience Builder should honor the map's pop-up and allow for pop-up ONLY functionality and not SELECT/Filter the feature record.  I just want a pop-up to display.  I need map selection for other functions but want a single click on the feature to only show the pop-up.

Absolutely!

Using the Select function to act as the pop-up becomes especially confusing and clumsy for the user when the pop-up contents are displayed in the Sidebar. The contents will persist with no way to clear the window except implementing the clear selection function on the map, which is very opaque and confusing for the user.
