I'd like to see more options for how the Edit widget's interface can be configured visually - similar in manner to the way the Filter widget has different ways of presenting filter options (dropdown, button etc.). The current Editor widget is great, but it can be overly complex for some editing workflows.

Sometimes all we need from the Edit widget is a really stripped down, minimalist attribute form that can seamlessly integrate inline as part of the UI. For examples shown (mock up below), a dropdown or button row appearance that simply changes a value on the selected feature straight away, (with or without the need for an 'Update' button):

This would be really useful for building more bespoke editing workflows, that can work more flexibly when building our apps than the traditional approach.

Just out of curiosity, do you want multiple ways to edit the same layer? You could achieve the first thing you show by just changing the form of the layer to only include that one field for editing? But mostly I agree, the recent emphasis on forms is overall great but more flexibility is nice as well.
