What might cause the services to stop as the machine restarts?

I???m wondering why the services stop as the machine restarts. Sometimes, we are forced to restart the server machine which affects the services to stop

What might be the issue here?

Thank you

At this point, I'm at a bit of a loss.

On reboot when the services are stopped, what happens if you try to start them all manually via ArcCatalog?

Also, how many CPU cores on your machine and how much RAM?  What are the min and max SOC instances for your services?

Many thanks William for the massive help,

I need to emphasis what I have observed. When the services start in ??stop? mode, then if the ArcGIS Server is stopped and re-started, the services need CONSIDERABLE TIME to start (one needs to be patient to have them started). But at the end they do start. I??m not sure if this can be taken as a rule.

When I start them manually, most of the time, the restart fials

Our server is with 16 cores and 64 GB Ram.
I stay on the range: 3-5 ArcSoc.exe/core and 3GB/Core

*the 16 cores machine can have up to 80 ArcSoc (I have less)
*the 16 cores machine needs 48 GB (I have more)

A few things / suggestions more... try these independently.

1. Try changing the user account that runs the ArcGIS for Server Windows Service to a domain account; for the time being, add that account to the Administrators group on the machine.  Reboot and check services again.

2. Add or modify the IRPStackSize registry value to 18.  Reboot and check services again.  If no change is seen with the services, increase the value in increments of 3 until you get to 30.  If 30 does nothing for you, change the value back to its original state before modifying it; otherwise, delete it if it didn't exist before.  Reboot your server each time you modify the value.  There are many instructions online how to modify this registry item.

3. Change all of your services to run in low isolation rather than the default high isolation.  Reboot the server and check the services again.

Another question for you... is your server a physical machine or is it a VM?

I'm not sure it makes a difference whether his ArcGIS Server is physical or virtual or what his server specs are.Jamal, you mentioned that the data is file geodatabase and that it resides on your ArcGIS Server.  Are any of your feature classes joined to any other database tables? Can you try creating a new map document with one of those layers in the stopped map services, publish it and reboot your server to see if that new map service is in stopped mode after a reboot?

Jamal,

Can you change the minimum number of instances to 0 on each of the Map Service, and observe the Map Service after reboot.

Many thanks William, Leo and Nidhin for the help,

? My machine is physical
? With whatever map service, as the machine reboots, it is found in ??stop? mode.

At the moment, to resolve this issue, I??m happy with stopping + restarting the ArcGIS Server and then to wait sometime to have the services started.

Very much appreciated
