Hello, I have a Highly Available ArcGIS Enterprise stack deployed with ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for AWS. I am wondering how can I update the licenses for the portal, server, datastore, and webadaptor?

Thank you!

The licenses for Portal for ArcGIS can be updated through the Portal UI, ArcGIS Server is updated through the licensing wizard on the machine, ArcGIS DataStore is updated through a command line tool also on the machine, and ArcGIS Web Adaptors don't have a license associated with them.

Portal:

  • Sign in to home page with an admin account
  • Select "Organization" from menu at the top of the window
  • In the blue bar, select "Licenses"
  • Upper left-hand side select "Import licenses"

Server:

  • Log into the machines where ArcGIS Server is installed
  • From the Start menu, open "Software Authorization for ArcGIS Server"
  • Enter the new ECP code, or upload the .prvc file downloaded from MyEsri
  • Follow the prompts until the wizard succeeds and closes
  • Repeat for the additional ArcGIS Servers in the HA setup

DataStore:

  • Sign into the machine where DataStore is installed
  • Open Command Prompt as an admin, and navigate to the <ArcGIS Data Store installation directory>\datastore\tools directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\datastore\tools)
  • run the tool "updatelicense" (there are no additional parameters needed)
  • Repeat for all other DataStore installations

@Laura is this for data coming directly from an Enterprise Geodatabase?

If so, you need to update the license also in the Enterprise Geodatabase as the SDE user: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/update-enterprise-geodatabas....

Should take less than a minute to complete.

Yes, SDE. How can I do that without being able to connect to the database?

You will need the SDE user connection. Once you have that, you can apply the keycodes file from ArcGIS Server that was just updated. It will update the license information in database for you.

You may need to get IT or an admin to provide you a copy of the keycodes file or access on the machine.

I have the keycodes; I cannot connect under any login

Have you tried to enter the keycodes file in that pop-up window?
