Portal for ArcGIS Constantly Starting Index Service

Good Evening,

We're having serious problems with ArcGIS Enterprise.  We've narrowed the problem down to Portal for ArcGIS.  While reviewing the logs, I noticed that it has been trying to start the indexing service over and over again.  Any thoughts on what causes this and what the solutions might be?

I deleted the portal index according to this technical support article and it fixed the issue.
