I'd like to better understand licensing users for Portal for ArcGIS. My organization has 20 available Creator (level 2) user types. If I decide to "use" 5 of the 20 when creating a Portal for ArcGIS license, but then later realize that 5 is not sufficient, will I need to create a new Portal license within My ESRI? Or, is it possible to add say a 6th and 7th Creator without generating a new license, possibly in the Portal interface. I have not yet used Portal for ArcGIS so I do not know what capabilities exist.

Hello Paul,

"Importing a license file will overwrite your existing user type, app and app bundle licenses with those included in the new license file."

Hi Paul, to add to Igb's note, you could also include all of those Creators in your portal license but just not assign the licenses to any individuals until you are ready to use them. That way, you wouldn't have to go back and re-license.

Paul,

You will have to get a new license from the my esri. You can edit the existing one to add the licenses then download the new JSON file and then apply it to your Portal installation.
