ArcGIS Server 10.3.1 base table definition string is invalid.

I am trying to publish from ArcGIS 10.3.1 to ArcGIS server 10.3.1 and I get the following errors when attempting to START the Service: "The base table definition string is invalid". Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix the problem?  I appreciate any help. Thanks
