Hello developers,
Currently I can publish map service (url ends with "MapServer") to my Enterprise ArcGIS Server from ArcGIS Pro. But when I try to publish an image service in ArcGIS Pro, "Share as Web Layer" is grayed out if I don't sign in in Pro; if I do and use the default portal url (https://www.arcgis.com/home), it says I don't have permission.
So in order to publish it to my Enterprise ArcGIS Server (not ArcGIS Online), do I need to also install ArcGIS Portal?
Do I also need to install web adaptor?
Thank you and have a nice day!
The process you're using is to publish to ArcGIS Enterprise. You need to publish to a standalone server: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/publish-services/windows/service-publishing-in-arcgis...
Your ArcGIS Server must have a valid ArcGIS Image Server License.

Thank you both for your information!
I successfully connected my ArcGIS Pro to my standalone ArcGIS Server. However, "Share as Web Layer" is still grayed out. Is it because ArcGIS Pro automatically detects that my ArcGIS Server doesn't have this "Image Server License"?
The Share as a Web Layer is for ArcGIS Enterprise workflows, not standalone ArcGIS Server. The weblink has links to the instructions for how to do this because it's a different workflow:
Map Services: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/sharing/overview/publish-a-map-service.htm
Image Services: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/sharing/overview/publish-an-image-service.htm

Sorry I was getting Enterprise and standalone mixed up.
I am currently stuck on step 1 for Image Services because right click does not produce the "Publish" option. So is there a way to grant my Pro this privilege?
Or is there a way to do it with sd file like I did with map service?
Terminology is 'everything' when trying to help someone through these pages.
Do you have Image Server License installed in your ArcGIS Server? If not, that will explain it.
Understood. Will be looking for the license then. Thank you both for this huge help!
