Portal items from ArcGIS Online AGOL (secure service) — any issues?

I've created a item in ArcGIS Portal (version 10.5.1) from an AGOL feature hosted service. 

It's a secure service and I have 'stored credentials with service item' (see screen capture below). 

I see the AGOL REST url has a 'token=' in the URL. 

My questions are:

- will the service expire? 

- are there any other issues with this approach? 

So far, I've experience no issues.

@NickShannon2 , this is the method we would recommend to clients when they don't want the user to type in the username and password each time they open the service.

I haven't experienced any token expiry, except when the password changes on that service.
