I need to know the mathematical definition for the geodetic lines constructed by the Bearing Distance ToLine Tool. ArcGIS 10 web help states that "The mathematical definition of the geodesic line is quite lengthy and complex and therefore omitted here".
Since the tool may be used in an important project in my institution, I need to know how acurate the tool is. Does it uses Puissant or Vincenty's formulae?

We use Vincenty.

Thanks very much, Melita.
I would apreciate to have more details about the algorithms, specially for the geodesic line. Can I expect accuracy within 0,5mm (0.020?) for the final location? The geodesic lines I've produced using the tool have vertices spaced ~1km each other. Is this spacing used to trace the line in an iterative processs?
