I need to be able to change the default heading of a feature class using the graduated colors symbology- it defaults to the original field name being used to classify the data. It does not look like it can be changed to either a custom heading nor does it appear to use an alias assigned to the field.
One workaround was to symbolize on categories instead of quantities because the heading in categories can be changed; and Arcmap does read the alias in the symbology editor tab. This is not a good workaround for this dataset as it adds more effort. Manually grouping and regrouping every time the feature class is updated.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. I am really hoping I am missing a setting somewhere that will allow me to do this),
