I have been trying to publish a web feature layer for the last 24hours and I can not get ArcGIS Pro to publish it as a feature layer without failing, I have been able to publish it a vector tile layer but that does let users gain access to the attributes of the file which is very import.  I have looked up the error and it's a generic one but I have tried all the solutions and none of them have worked. I should add that the version of ArcGIS Server is 10.6

I have also tried to use the Reference registered data with "map image and Feature" selected the analyze gives me the message that the layers data source must be registered with the server, when I try this and provide the connection details, which I figure is just the datastore name it needs it says this folder doesn't exist, or I will get the datastore name already exists... So it's kind of confusing.

I have done the routine starting and stopping of the services and even rebooted the server to clear out any issues I have validated all datastores and corresponding folders.  I am not sure what I am missing something important in this process that is preventing me from publishing this layer?  I have provided a log of the failed publishing and a screen shot of the how it is setup from ArcGIS Pro.

any additional guidance or help with what I might be missing or if there is another place I should look at for permissions for data stores and its corresponding folders would be helpful.

You need to run command prompt as administrator.  If you can’t then you’ll need a sys admin to do it

Yeah Okay that makes sense, I was able to run it but the info on here is sensitive so what exactly did you want  need to look at?  Were you wanting to know what the current mode of the data store mode?  if so it is in Readwrite mode.

read write is enough.  It was possible it may have been something as simple as you'd run out of disk, which can put it into read only.  If it's read write then you must be healthy in there.

Other than the tip about uploading the zipped version of the fGDB to the portal and promoting to a service, I think you probably need an Esri support call.

I'm in the middle of a time-bound weekend production upgrade and quickly running out of time to complete.  Sorry, I'm going to have to step away for the time being.

this is my setup when I get the failure.  I should also point out that even though it fails to publish the feature layer it does publish the service definition of that service to the portal site.

can you expand the log information, just in case there is anything there.  Also you may need to review the hosting server logs to see if the ArcGIS Server is blocking it for a specific reason.

Another thought.  The service is quite simple.  Are you able to zip the file geodatabase, upload the zip to portal as an item, and then promote it to a feature service from there?

The service account running ArcGIS Server requires at least read access to the area you're trying to register with the server.

An alternative would be to copy/cut your file geodatabase to the Server itself e.g. to \\ArcGISServer\D$\Filegeodatabase

Then, if you have a folder in D:\Filegeodatabase on your machine - you can then use the "Use same as publisher path" when registering the data source. Please keep in mind the data will have to be updated in this location.

This appears to be similar behavior to what I'm currently experiencing.  Was a specific cause and solution identified?  Thanks for any insight!
