How do I create specific symbols, i.e. different highway signs, for specific polylines in a multi-line layer that can be shown using the label feature instead of making point layers? Is this done in expressions? I'm not very savy at script writing.
Have you looked into creating separate label classes for the different feature groups you want to label within the line feature class? You can create separate labels for highway shields, major roads, minor roads, etc.
