Is it possible to get more room for items in ArcGIS Portal home page?

We have some items shown in the portal home page, but by default the section does not fully show item detail(summary, description) etc. Is there a way we can get/add/expand the items section in home page to fully display the details? Or a way to not launch the app or map directly, and rather take us to the items details page?
In the screenshot below: Left image shows the item details page of the app, and on right it fails to show the entire description. Its basic to understand that home page has limited space, but it should have some function to have tips(hover over item and see the description), or open item details page and not the item directly, or at least a way to customize the view.
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.
