Dear all,

I have done a bit of research about this but couldn't get to any solution, so hopefully I might be able to get some help here. I am customizing the Albers equal conic area projection to my study region. I know how to create a new projected coordinate system but I don't know the meaning and how to define the standard parallels 1 and 2. If my study area is in between the -30° and - 35° parallels, what should be the standard parallels of my customized projection?

Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards,

C.

Hello,

One of the common methods of placing the standard parallels is to calculate the north-south extent of the data, divide by 6 and then calculate the latitudes 1/6 from the northern and southern edges.
