Last modified date for data not shown in Portal

When in the portal item, such as a featurelayer description page it would be very useful to have the last modified date for the data that is being used and not just the last modified date for the portal item only.  This would help users decide if they want to include the data in their web map.  Is especially important if that featurelayer is edited within the web environment as the portal item has not actually been changed but the underlying data has.
