When using SAML logins in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1, accessing items as reference from a collaborated Portal, it has a sign-in prompt to request user to sign into the collaborated.
Esri support explained “When using SAML logins, access to Portal is allowed or denied by the Identity provider (IDP) and the request always comes directly from the client. Portal never communicates directly to the IDP. When using a service that was added as reference, Portal acts as a proxy and make a request to the original Portal to access the resource. To do so, Portal need a token that it cannot request directly to the IDP and the request has to be triggered by the user. “
As sharing items to public or setting up a viewer account is not ideal or possible for some organization's operation standard. I think it would be very useful to provide a user a smooth Single Sign On (SSO) experience without an extra click to sign into the collaborated Portal when accessing the secure item as a reference.
