In Portal, users are displayed with their "user name". In our organization, this is some arbitrary combination of letters and number like user12345.
It would be helpful and relevant for the user experience if we could set up Portal to show either
instead. At least have this information in a hint/hover popup on the username as displayed today..
This would be required for all spots and places where the user name is being displayed today: In all the element lists as well as the elements information page and so on.
Yes, we need more control on how ArcGIS displays user account names.
In Addition to what is listed above, it should be possible to hide and/or replace a user name shown as owner of items or groups by assigning "alias names" for specific/all accounts. This would also have the benefit of no longer exposing internal account names to external users (for security reasons).
This is horrific and a major bug in my opinion. Why not having Alias for the public displayed information? I m a singel user and nearly two decades ago I simply enter some idiotic name (nothing spacial but not the name of my consultancy ;-)) by entering in the first time the online username ... now after 25 years you strill have only the possibility to create new users, delete via adminsitrator the old one and move all rights and projects to the new one. puhhh, dangerouse for several projects, I have no time for this and not want to risk ana content. So please solve this bug and allow a simple alias!
