when zooming/panning to an object by double clicking on it in the table of contents, the map tilts in addition to zooming/panning. we would like to be able to disable this functionality.

A related function we would like to see, would be the ability to reset the tilt and rotation with a hotkey. Google earth uses the "R" key to reset the view.

Being able to disable the auto tilt would go a long way to negating the need for a view "reset", but it's still handy to have sometimes.

Hello @JeremiahPoling :

Thanks for sharing your idea with us. Camera viewport customization is a good point that we have been working on. We have included your use case in our investigation issue for future release.

For now, if you want to adjust the tilt after the auto-zooming, we suggest you use the on-screen navigator. You can check the Settings-Navigation-Enable navigator control. After then you will be able to use the navigator in the bottom right corner.

We will evaluate the need for default tilt and rotation carefully in our next release. If you have other use cases or inspiration want to share with us, we are more than welcome to hear from you.

Thank you!

Hi @JeremiahPoling. There is an hotkey to reset the view, and it is also the "R" key. If you want to only reset the North, the hotkey is "N".

The complete list of hotkeys for navigation is here.

@GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde,

You're absolutely correct. And I thought that was the case as well.

I swear I tested it on two machines before I posted this feature request, but it didn't appear to work in that admittedly limited testing.

That was right after installing it, and I've since rebooted at least the computer I'm using currently. So I don't know if it was a post install/update glitch or (more likely) just user error.

Of course, I just tried again, and it's working just fine now. I choose to believe that it heard you talking about it and decided to start working again. 😛

Apologies for the confusion.

Thanks,
Jeremiah

Yes, the hotkey is there, but I like the idea of having the capability to disable tilt on zoom by default.

Hi @JeremiahPoling ,

We have supported this feature and did some UX enhancements in the latest release V2.3.

Please check our document: Guided tour—ArcGIS Earth | Documentation and find the 'TOC Fly-to Angle' in our Settings - Navigation panel. Switching between the two modes would work as we expected.

TOC Fly-to Angle—Provide options of default angle and no fly-to angle when zooming to a layer from the table of contents.

Thanks.
