ArcGIS Earth for mobile V1.1.1 Released and known limitation for current version

The version 1.1.1 of ArcGIS Earth for mobile has been released to Google Play and App Store on April 30, 2020. In order to bring users a better experience, the new version adds important functions and improvements.

  • Support to download Mobile Scene Package 
  • Generate QR code from mobile devices 
  • Filter data in portal content 

New features 

Download Mobile Scene Package from portal 

Support to download mobile scene package data from portal, and add new page “My Downloads” to monitor the download status. 

  1. Tap the Mobile Scene packages to download and tap the Download icon to enter My downloads page 
  2. Tap Downloading panel to see the download progress, and support to pause or remove the data 
  3. When finishing downloading, the data will be saved in Downloaded panel 
  4. Tap the downloaded files to load it to the scene 

Generate QR Code from ArcGIS Earth for mobile 

Support to generate QR Code from ArcGIS Earth for mobile for Image service, Map service, Scene service, Feature service to help users to share data between mobile devices. 

  1. Slide to left the layer name to generate QR code on iOS devices 
  2. Long press the layer name to generate QR code on Android devices    

Enhancements 

Add “Filter” in portal content  

Support to filter portal content by “Item Type”, “Date Modified” and “Status” .

 

  1. Item Type for Web Scene, Feature Service, Map Service, Scene Service, Image Service, KML and Mobile Scene Package
  2. Data Modified for Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days
  3. Status for Authoritative, Deprecated 

 

Known issues of ArcGIS Earth for mobile V1.1.1 

For iOS 

Feature 

Description 

Add data 

1. ArcGIS Earth for iOS can display screen overlay with KML/KMZ but may not support to display it as the appropriate screen size.  

2. ArcGIS Earth for iOS can’t support to add data from URL with a parameter, such as “ts”.  

3. ArcGIS Earth for iOS can’t support to add building scene layer. 

4. ArcGIS Earth for iOS will crash when loading some special web scenes. (new) 

Mobile scene package 

5. ArcGIS Earth for iOS failed to get the locator name of the mobile scene package. 

6. When loading the mobile scene package with basemaps and changing to display the default basemap from the portal. And then signing in a valid account, there will be no basemap from the mobile scene package.  

Tour 

7. The photo might not display as expected if the camera is too close. 

8. ArcGIS Earth for iOS can’t support to choose Album photos.  

Portal 

9. ArcGIS Earth for iOS can’t support to connect portal with Kerberos certification. 

 

For Android

2. ArcGIS Earth for Android just support to load Web Scene in the way of read-only. 

3. ArcGIS Earth for Android can’t support to add data from URL with a parameter, such as “ts”.  

4. ArcGIS Earth for Android can’t support to add building scene layer. 

5. ArcGIS Earth for iOS will crash when loading some special web scenes. (new)

6. Layers visibility are turned on automatically after restarted ArcGIS Earth for Android. 

Measure 

7. Line of sight and Viewshed does not work well on part of Android (6.x) devices. 

Portal 

8. ArcGIS Earth for Android can’t support to connect portal with Kerberos certification. 

Android Version 

9. ArcGIS Earth for Android will fail to launch on the devices with Android Version 4.4.x if the network is not working.(new) 

   

Note 

  1. ArcGIS Earth for mobile can’t support the horizontal screen. 
  1. ArcGIS Earth for mobile 1.1.1 just has English only.
