ArcMap opening every hour then closing

Hi All,

Not sure that this is the correct location for this question, feel free to move it.

Has anyone run into a specific user's machine being listed as having an ArcMap license OUT at a specific time and then in being IN approximately 30-40 mins later.  The kicker being that this user is NOT in ArcMap nor ArcCatalog at the time.  This is also occurring every hour at one minute past, starting at approximately 3pm and running until midnight.  We are not sure if it is starting earlier in the day as of yet.  We only discovered it this week - who know if it has been occurring before now.  The license manager was just recently bounced, so the logs have be reset.

Any ideas on what to look for?

You may want to try looking in the Windows - Applications Event logs (Control Panel > System > Admin Tools > Event Viewer) around the time that the licence is being utilized for clues as to what process is starting up and attempting to use the license. You may also wish to check if there are any scheduled tasks set to run at the same time every day that may explain the use of the license.

It sounds like the search indexing may be kicking in. It looks like the default for the "Index new items" may be 60 minutes. I've never really checked to see if it pulls in a license when the search index runs.
