Arcgis 10.0 on Windows 10 crashing

Install  of ArcGIS 10.0 with SP 5 on new Windows 10 machine seemed to work fine until you have to select a file or a folder from any pop up file browser window. eg selecting a layer file from  the layer properties or source location of a shape file, or from within Catalog exporting a layer to local drive.  It happens every time. I would much appreciate any ideas to fix this, thanks.

Hi Richard. 

Unfortunately ArcGIS 10.0 is not supported on Windows 10.  10.3.1 is when Windows 10 support begins.

FAQ: Is Windows 10 certified with Esri's ArcGIS products? 

I would fully expect the crash is caused by Windows 10.  I understand however that installing another OS is not always the easiest fix. 

If you are able to get it to work, keep in mind that it will likely experience other performance issues.
