I have a DTM with cel size 10 x 10. I am trying to create contours for scale 1:25000 using the tool on Defense Mapping

Create contours.

I have insert parameters as seen below...

The results that i get includes only contours from 20m - 900m height.

But in DTM i have elevation up to 1940m. Why this information has been lost. Where is the problem? Should I resample my raster again and if yes what is the best cell cize for resampling for the above scale?

Above is the result with the gap of contours areas

Thanks

Argyro

try a different scale, your contours are really crowded now

Hi Argyro,

Can you please try the following:

1. For the Raster Elevation Units parameter, specify Meters.

2. For the Contour Elevation Units parameter, specify Meters.

3. For the Resample Raster parameter, make sure it is checked.

What happens?

Dan

Hi Argyro,

Thank you for responding.

Can you please answer the following:

1. What happens if you specify a single area of interest?

2. Would you be able to provide the input raster?

3. What version of ArcGIS Desktop are you running?

3. What version of Esri Defense Mapping are you running?

4. What is the OS of your machine?

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I apologize for the delay in your questions...

1) If I specify a single area the tool runs successfully besides the area I attached above...

2) I could provide the specific area of the input raster but....(see below answer no 4)

3) We are running 10.5.1 ArcGIS Desktop and 10.5 Esri Defense Mapping

4) The OS of my machine is Windows 7, except one of my colleagues machine which runs Windows 10.

So after your questions we run the tool again in OS Windows 10 ...and the tool run successfully without having any gap area...

I did also specify the parameters you suggested.

So everything seems to work better in OS Windows 10.

Should we have to update our OS to Windows 10? Is it a precondition in order Defense Mapping tools run successfully?

Many many thanks for your help.

Regards

Argyro

Hi Argyro,

You do not need to apologize. I am glad the tool is working.

I have a question regarding your response to Question 3. Are you running Esri Defense Mapping 10.5? If yes, the version of Esri Defense Mapping must match the version of ArcGIS Desktop. Mixed version is not supported and you may encounter issues with the software.

You will need to uninstall Esri Defense Mapping 10.5 and install Esri Defense Mapping 10.5.1. As of today, the latest release for Esri Defense Mapping 10.5.1 is Patch 10 Build 1801. To obtain the version and build number for Esri Defense Mapping, launch ArcMap or ArcCatalog, go to Customize->Extensions... and the Extensions dialog is launched. On the Extensions dialog, click on Defense Mapping and you will see the version and build number appear below 'Description:'. Please see screenshot below.
