Hi,

I'm using data reviewer since few weeks and I've got a problem.
I have a shape with a merge of several other shape(polygone).
I want to know if some polygone are overlaping others in one shape. I've tried to use geometry on geometry from data reviewer but I can't because i've an error message:"unable to build error geometry for feature XX" and after an other "unable to save error geometry for recordID XX"

If someone has the solution...

Sorry for my English, I'm French.

Thank you for your help

Is there an issue with the geometry you are trying to examine? Is it invalid geometry?

Have you tried running the Invalid Geometry Check on your data?

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Finding_invalid_geometry/01020000005800000...

Have you tried running the Check Geometry GP tool on your data?

Yes I think it's an issue with invalid geometry.

I have already tried running invalid geometry check and check geometry GP tool but it does not work.
It says that my data is clean and that I have no issue with my geometry...
I don't understand..

1. What version of ArcGIS Data Reviewer are you running?

2. What service pack/patch have you applied?

3. Can you attach the data?

4. Can you provide the properties of your Geometry on Geometry Check?

I'm running ArcGIS 10.1 with datareviewer SP1 Patch5

I'm sorry but I can't share my data..
It's a shape file from SDE L2E.

Properties of my Geometry on Geometry Check :
Feature Class 1 : my data
Feature Class 2 : the same data
Spatial Relation Check : Overlaps
Attributes : None
OK

What tolerance did you specify?

Hello.

"unable to build error geometry for feature XX" and "unable to save error geometry for recordID XX" are warning messages.  You should still see records written to the Reviewer table, but instead of capturing the error geometry (the geometry of where the actual overlap) it probably captured the full feature geometry.  The overlap geometry could be so that it tries to create a geometry that is invalid.

Are there error records in the Reviewer table for feature "XX"?

I can't specify any tolerance because it's grey..

I create my batch and after when I want to Validate it it's written :

'Default
           Invalid Geometry Check (My data)
The Group that I create.'

Is that normal?

It's right my "error" are written in the reviewer table.
"unable to build error geometry for feature XX" I have only 2 lines and for "unable to save error geometry for recordID XX" I have a lot of error. I don't understand why this difference?!
The lines from the first error message are in the reviewer table but when I click on I can only "enter correction status" "Enter Verification status" "select related row" I don't have "zoom to" "Pan to"....

Thanks to your help I have understand that I can see my data even if I have error messages. Finally it's not an issue I can work on my data through the table. And I can update the reviewer table.

I have a new question.
For example when I run data reviewer geometry on geometry with
Properties of my Geometry on Geometry Check :
Feature Class 1 : my data
Feature Class 2 : the same data
Spatial Relation Check : intersect
tolerance: no value
Attributes : None
OK

Of course I have the same error messages. After when I look at the reviewer table I observe that I have in "category" some are Feature Record and others are Row Record. What does it mean exactly?

Feature records have a geometry associated with it and therefore you can zoom/pan to it.  Row Records do not have a geometry.

For the "unable to save error geometry for recordID XX" message, is there more text that follows it?

There is a section in the help doc that has a list of error and warning messages.  You can check that out here.
