Background

I have a survey which will be used long-term to gather data on a daily basis. The survey users will be a specific group of people, and as new people start in the role or people leave the role the members of the group will change. The survey collects each person's name information, for the purposes of recording and analysing work performance.

Q: Is it possible to filter the data on the dashboard, depending on the viewer account? I would like a dashboard showing the user's performance, but need to prevent the users from being able to view others’ performance data (fine for users to see others' raw data entries in data page, but not dashboard chart summaries of others' data).

It seems that filtering of the dashboard data according to viewer account itself is not a feature currently available, but I saw mentions of a couple workarounds:

-URL parameters:

  • Issue – the dashboard owner will need to create URL parameter settings and link for each members of the group, and create new ones for each new member.

-Assigning of codes to each user to maintain anonymity:

  • Issue – the dashboard owner will need to create codes for each members of the group, and create new ones for each new member.
  • Issue - The users likely will be able to figure out which code is assigned to who, from details of each person’s work activity.

Are there any other workaround options available to achieve anonymity while providing all members of the group access to one dashboard?

Making an individual dashboard for each member would not be an option, unless there was a way to duplicate dashboards, and group specific dashboards together which allows make minor design edits to all of them at once when needed. As far as I know these functions are not available.

Thanks!

Hi Juliet,

Q: Is it possible to filter the data on the dashboard, depending on the viewer account?

Sorry, this functionality is not possible with ArcGIS Dashboards.

> ...  unless there was a way to duplicate dashboards

There is a "Save As ..." option after you've configured a dashboard. This might meet your needs.

Save a dashboard

> ... group specific dashboards together which allows make minor design edits to all of them at once when needed

The ability to "batch edit" multiple dashboards at once is not supported.

Hope this helps,
