I have a client that has a Level 2 ArcGIS.com account and has underground utility mapping for viewing in the Collector App.  If they add Level 1 "View only" users for additional field crew members, can the Level 1 users still use the Collector App just to "look" at the utility mapping in the field?  Or would the Level 1 users have to use the Explorer App for viewing the utility mapping?  I don't have a Level 1 account to test this.

Thanks

Dan,

Only level 2 members can open maps in Collector.

Requirements—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS

Those level one users would be better off using Explorer to view the map.

Thanks Dan.  I checked the requirements for the Explorer for ArcGIS App, and the language is very confusing, and makes it sound like you need to be a level 2 user to open a map that is shared with you privately in an organization.

Anyone can use Explorer to view sample maps as well as search for public maps on ArcGIS Online.

To use your maps (both those you've created and those shared with you) in Explorer, you must have an ArcGIS account. ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise are supported. Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 is also supported.

To create maps for Explorer, you must have an ArcGIS account. If a member of an organization on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise, you must be a level 2 member. Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 and public accounts on ArcGIS Online are also supported

Hi Dan -- Sorry you found that language confusing! The paragraph you have in bold is about creating maps, not viewing them. Here is the important part for viewing:

To use your maps (both those you've created and those shared with you) in Explorer, you must have an ArcGIS account. ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise are supported. Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 is also supported.

Any one with an account (at any level) can use the app and view the maps shared with them.
