Obstacle analysis is critical for ensuring the safe travel of aircraft in and around airfields.

This learn lesson introduces you to ArcGIS Aviation Airports functionality for obstacle analysis. In your role as a GIS Analyst for San Francisco International Airport, you face the challenge of analyzing whether new structures being built around the runway pose hazards to operating aircraft.

This lesson requires a license of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Aviation Airports extension. If you are using a Learn ArcGIS organization account, you should have this license.

Don't have a license? Don't worry! You can request a free trial license and start testing out the amazing software!

Proceed to the Learn Lesson!

Hello friends and colleagues!  Welcome to 2021!

The ArcGIS Aviation product team is working on adding capabilities to the upcoming ArcGIS Pro 2.8 release to support the creation of obstacle limitation surfaces for heliports (ICAO Annex 14 Volume II).  We would welcome the opportunity to share with you the progress that has been made so far and get your expert feedback on a challenge that we've encountered.  Specifically, we need help understanding the generally accepted best practices for constructing the Transitional surface for curved approaches.

If you would be interested in participating in a short teleconference or email conversation to exchange information, please let me know by replying here or contacting me at @KiyoshiYamashita.

Thanks in advance for your assistance...
