When does an image generated from printing tools get deleted?

Gregory,

The images get deleted on a configured time schedule that is set on ArcGIS Server. Otherwise the server would be overloaded with images that are no longer in use.

Server directories—ArcGIS Server Administration (Windows) | Documentation for ArcGIS Enterprise

See Server Directory Cleaning section.

Gregory,

No. If you look in your posted image:

  1. Click Site tab at the very top of the page
  2. Click Directories on that new page.
  3. Click the pencil/edit button on the Output directory.
  4. Adjust "Maximum file age (minutes)"
