The API has logic for performing joins of MapImageLayers and tables that are available in the workspace. A sample of this can be seen here: ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox
However, when you create a new layer by joining a mapImageLayer with a table, you loose the symbology that is available in the mapImageLayer, and instead have to define your own renderer.
Is it somehow possible to force the joined layer to use the symbology from the mapImageLayer it is derived from?
