Another way. Just FYI.
You could create a new polygon Feature Class in ArcCatalog (without enabling Z and M Values, i.e. Keep the boxes unchecked for "Coordinates include M values" and "Coordinates include Z values"). Also Import the Fields from old Feature Class to New Feature Class.
Once the FC is created, use Append to add the records from the old FC to new FC.
