Hello there.

I'm trying to use the fly tool and when ever i get in a little close, say 20m above the surface, the 'bottom' of my view renders the sky color rather than the imagery (and the features if I were to add them).  I am working in a really flat area.

It works fine if I am maybe 100m up, but if I try to act like i'm flying through city blocks, it looks like the attached screen cap.

What can I do?  I need to prepare a presentation for clients and I'm going to look foolish.

Thanks.

You need to change the clipping plane positon.

Go to 'View' >>> 'View Settings' >>> Advanced

You can then change the 'Near Clipping Plane'

Yep.  That article goes over the whole thing.
