Deploy WAB Dev Ed app to AGOL?

Hello,

I am getting familiar with Web Appbuilder Dev Edition. I am not seeing any information in the documentation about deploying an app build with WAB Dev Ed back to AGOL or Portal? The deployment topic speaks only of packing it up and deploying in a web server. So if I go through the effort of creating custom widgets/themes locally, how can I make them available to the organizational apps in AGOL?

You can export to a template within your portal:

Export as a template—Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS (Developer Edition) | ArcGIS for Developers

This may meet some of your needs
