I am new to WAB apps as well as using widgets. I am getting the error "There is no appropriate layer available in the map." in the "Filter Settings" and under "Search Settings" "Select search layer(s)" is empty when trying to use the "Near Me" widget. I have added rest api feature layers to the search as well as to a query widget.

I may not have my application, basemap, api's or federation portal set up correctly. Not sure why I am getting this error. I have looked it up and nothing comes up on GeoNet or Google.

Have you chosen a map? If so what kind of layers are in the map?

I am using the Topographic base map from Esri.

Have you created a map in Arcgis online or Portal? You want to choose that map.

If you do not choose a map and just choose a basemap then the map for the application will have not layers. That is most likely why you are getting that error.
