topic Graphically representing where water would gather in a catchment during a heavy rainfall event using ArcHydro in Water Resources Questions

I'm currently working on a Uni project that requires to represent where water would gather in a catchment during a heavy rainfall event. I have went through some tutorials which use ArcHydro tools + DEM to attempt doing something similar but doesn't quite cut it. Does anyone has experience with this? Or is there another program that I could use? Even something like an animation would do.

I am looking for simple graphical representation in order to represent areas where riparian woodland could be planted to reduce surface runoff, nothing fancy or too complicated for a beginners brain so any help would be much appreciated!
