DEM Reconditioning tool doesn't recognize input Raster

Hi.

When I used DEM Reconditioning tool from Arc hydro toolbox , it doesn't recognize any input raw DEM selected from drop-down list. The error message is "error 000840: The value is not a String". But if I used the same function by selecting from toolbar, it run properly. I tried other tools in the toolbox such as Level DEM, Fill Sinks, they allowed to select raw raster from drop-down list and run well.

Does someone know what wrong with me?

I'm not sure- I'm actually having the opposite occur.

In trying to use any of the ArcHydro Tools from the toolbar, none of them recognize my DEM layers.
However, if I go to the ArcToolbox, and try from the ArcHydro toolbox, all the tools recognize my DEM layers just fine.

Very strange. I'd prefer to use the toolbar, rather than the toolbox, but I suppose it will do for me.

Try resetting the Processing Extents. Menu: Geoprocessing>Environment Settings>Processing Extents use the rawdem layer or larger extent.
