Windows Professional 64-bit and ArcHydro: Bugs encountered

Hi,
I am working on Windows Professional 7 on a 64-bit computer with Processors Intel (R) Xeon( R) CPU and have problem with ArcHydro. It can not perform the operation "Sink Selection". Does ArcHydro in general has problems with 64-bit and how can I solve them? Does the model only capcable of debugging for Intel32?

The error message is:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
at ESRI.ArcGIS.Geoprocessing.GeoProcessorClass.Execute(String Name, IVariantArray ipValues, ITrackCancel pTrackCancel)

Which ArcHydroTools 10 release are you working at?

Current release of ArcHydroTools is 2.0.1.131, dtd. 20110926, which can be installed alone or isbundled with HEC-GeoHMS v.10.0.0.75, dtd. 20110929.

But, in general I have had no issues working with ArcMap 10 ArcHydro/GeoHMS in 64-bit Windows 7.

Hi,

I'm working with the latest release of ArcHydro and also with Windows 7, 64 bit. I've run into the same error message when I try to run Drainage Boundary Definition.

Have you had any luck figuring this out?

I'm curious about the last line in the error message:

"C:\Projects\10_Final\ArcHydroTools\src\ApHydro\ArcHydroOp.vb:line 6955"

I get the same in mine, and there is no such path on my computer.

Out of curiosity, are you using ArcView, Editor, or Info? I'm using Editor, but I've heard that some of the tools might need ArcInfo now. Not sure if that is causing any of our problems...

It turns out that in my case it was a matter of licensing. ArcInfo is needed to run "Drainage Boundary Definition". I tried it with a trial version of Info and it all ran smoothly. Too bad that they had to throw one or two tools into ArcHydro that require ArcInfo.....I don't see us purchasing an Info license anytime soon.:(

Did anyone figure out a fix for this if they are using an ArcInfo License? I am running the version of ArcHydro that came with the November release of Hec-GeoHMS.

Hi,

I'm a new Arc Hydro user (on Windows 7 64-bit and Arc10), and also getting these errors. I've tried clearing the temp. directory, etc, as directed by others, but it doesn't seem to be making any difference. I've also noted that the tools for which I get these errors seems to vary (ie during the tutorial I only had this occur when I reached the 'combine stream links' stage, however with my real (Aster GDEM V2) data this is sometimes occuring with the sink evaluation and depression evaluation tools), so it doesn't appear just to be a licensing issue in my case.

I was mainly wondering, does anyone know exactly which tools require ARCINFO to run (I'm running ArcEditor) so I know which errors to persist with trying to solve and which are license based?

Hello,
I think it is related to license. I also encountered the same problem but resolved it with the following steps.
1. deleted all the temporary files
2. Start a fresh project and set all the directories
3. In your project go to Customize/ArcMap Options/Raster and change the maximum number of unique values to render from the default 65536 to for example 10000000
4. In your project go to Geoprocessing/Geoprocessing Options and uncheck the Enable Box of background processing option.
5. Now start your ArcHydro calculations. But be patient!!! For large size dems each of the command may take quite a long time (45 minutes in my case). some time it may show not responding but eventually it calculates.

I hope this may help.

I'm giving up on this tool. I have tried all of the suggested solutions, what irkes me is that sometimes they work sometimes they don't for no apparent reason. Right now I'm stuck on Drainage Point Processing but I've been stuck at just about every other pre-processing step but was eventually able to get past it. I'm just tired of troubleshooting and will put this tool away until they can provide something that works. anyone else thrown in the towel or is there some magic fix I'm missing? I'm upgrading to 10.1 in the next week or two, has that made things better or worse?

I was getting the error when attempting a fill sink. Resampling the raster ended up solving my problem.
