    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi Kathleen,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It sounds like you are digitizing plats over some aerial imagery. There are several ways to import the image from the pdf, but what I would suggest is saving the plat as an image, such as a .tiff or .jpg,&amp;nbsp; once you have it saved in this format, which is essentially a raster, you can use the add data tool to import into your .mxd, then use the georeferencing tools to rectify the image to the ortho-imagery.       <title>insert pdf and make it transparent</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I used to do this years ago and cannot remember how. I have parcel maps and I want to insert them into my ArcMap and set the&lt;BR /&gt;transparency to about 50% percent. I can insert the map as a pdf or a jpeg, but how to I make it a little transparent so I can see&lt;BR /&gt;the orthophoto behind the pdf. I want to use the pdf as rough guide as I digitize over it.&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Katy &lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
