Hi again,

I want to import dbf. file to ArcMap, so I tried 2 ways:

1. File - Add data - Add XY data - choose the file that contains the dbf. file, but it doesn't show up, so I can not choose it.
2. ArcToolbox - conversion tools - to coverage - import from E00 - the same result as above, can not find the file.

Does anyone know what is the problem here?

I do not understand. Why does a file contain the dbf? A .dbf should be a stand-alone table, that ArcMap can read without importing.
Item 2, same question. Why are you trying to import a dbf from an arcinfo interchange format (.e00)?
Typically, I have a file (ie: Well_File.dbf) that I select and add like any normal file, and then I can create an event theme based on the xy coordinates contained in the file.
If the field type is not numeric, the xy fields will not be available for selection, but editing the field type (I use excel) will solve that.
Regards,
Jim
