LQ is the ratio of (Land use category "i" in a census tract / total land use in census track) to (Land use category "i" in the zonal area / Total land use zonal area). For example census track A has 10 acres of corn, 90 acres of agriculture area; and 30 acres of corn in the zonal region, and 150 acres of agricultural area. the LQ would be (10/90)/(30/150) = 0.55 or corn acreage in census track "A" is less than what was expected.

I am trying to calculate location quotients for land use. I have the zoning data and have intersected that with my census tracts, but do not know what to do from here. Here is the formula I am using for location quotients.

(Land use in category i census tract/total land use in all categories of census tract)/(land use in category i for all census tracts/total land use in all census tracts.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!!!
