topic Classifying raster data values in Spatial Statistics Questions

I have several large single band thematic raster layers that I want to reclassify into groups.

I would like to split each raster's cells into 10 groups. I want each group to represent 10% of the range of values inside the raster layer. I would also like to repeat this so that each of the 10 groups contains 10% of the cells in the raster.

I can see that the values and break points for the 10 classes can be obtained by working with the Symbology>Classified section of the raster's properties but I wondered if there was a better tool for analysing and exploring the data (even a seperate programme) before I go ahead and actually reclassify the values in Spatial Analyst.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

thanks !
