topic Agent analyst doesnt cannot access raster data in Spatial Data Science Questions

I'm working through the Agent Analyst exercises in the book by Kevin Johnston. However, on the section in Chapter 2 on accessing raster data, when I run agent analyst it only reports the "no data" value. It doesn't seem able to access the actual raster data values, in this case I am using an enhanced vegetation index (EVI) raster. The code I am using is exactly as appears in the book, apart from appropriate changes for my file and path names. I know my application is accessing the correct raster, as when I changed the "no data" value, the new value is reported.

If I run the actual agent analyst application that comes with the book it works correctly. The only differences between that application and the one I've written is the coordinate systems are different (both are projected coordinate systems: mine is WGS_1984_World_Mercator, with geographic coordinates system GCS WGS 1984; the book application projection is NAD_1983_HARN_UTM_Zone_12N with geographic coordinates system GCS_North_American_1983_HARN). Also the book application's raster simply has values of 0 or 1 indicating whether food is present or not.

Any advice would be appreciated

GE.
