      <title>Identify lines starting from the same point and select the one with the shortest length.</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have multiple polylines in a layer. I want to do the following:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;I want to identify those lines that have the same starting point (I have x and y coordinates in the attribute table),&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Then check another attribute (say length) for each line and select the line that has the shortest length&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;I want to do this for all the lines in the layer and add to the selection each time the above criteria is met until all lines in the layer are completed.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please see attached attribute table.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;In your case, you can use&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A class="link-titled" href="https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/analysis/summary-statistics.htm" title="https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/analysis/summary-statistics.htm" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"&gt;Summary Statistics—Help | ArcGIS Desktop&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp; with the 'FROM_X' field as the case field and the 'Length' field as the statistics field with Minimum as the statistics.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The reason I say this is that your coordinates for the FROM_X field have a fixed precision and there is no minor variations within a group.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Alternately, if you have large datasets and want to do this with multiple "Case" fields or combinations of them, then you can use python/numpy.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The example below just replicates Summary Statistics as an example.&amp;nbsp; So go with the above if you just need the answer for this situation, but keep the following in mind for more complex questions&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;----------------------------------------------&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Option 2&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-----------&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You need ArcGIS Pro&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I used the attached script, which is compilation of numpy functions that I use.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The excel spreadsheet was converted to a numpy array&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The data were "split_sorted_sliced" then the minimum value ...
