      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I don't mean to harp on semantics, but mixing and matching terminology can make it hard for others to provide meaningful suggestions.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE class="jive_macro_quote jive-quote jive_text_macro"&gt;&lt;P&gt;finds all datasets containing polygons&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;P&gt;I think most would assume "datasets containing polygons" would mean polygon feature classes, the feature classes themselves.&amp;nbsp; Is that what you mean, or do you mean a feature dataset containing polygon feature classes?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE class="jive_macro_quote jive-quote jive_text_macro"&gt;&lt;P&gt;iterates through the feature_layers contained within&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;P&gt;Geodatabases don't contain layers.&amp;nbsp; I assume you mean iterating over feature classes within a feature dataset.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE class="jive_macro_quote jive-quote jive_text_macro"&gt;&lt;P&gt;identifying name of each polygon contained in the feature layers, contained in the datasets.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;P&gt;Looking at your script, it appears some feature classes contain a "Name" column/field, but not all.&amp;nbsp; In terms of a unique identifer for each polygon in each feature class, someone familiar with all the feature classes would have to come up with the ruleset.&amp;nbsp; Outside of "Name," what other fields might hold an identifier for the record or polygon?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks for the support here. The code below should work and it does to a point. I need a function that checks for various names the same way (if len(arcpy.ListFields(fc,"NAME"))&amp;gt;0:) checks for the Field_Name : 'NAME' and then assigns that to a variable(e.g FldName) to be used in the( with arcpy.da.SearchCursor(fc, ['FldName']) as sc:) call. I will need to only return the variable: 'path' if there is no appropriate&amp;nbsp; Field_Name found.       <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;In terms of path, do you want the path relative to the EGDB?&amp;nbsp; I assume you don't want a full path including the SDE connection file since there is not a one-to-one relationship between EGDBs and connection files, i.e., numerous SDE connection files in various locations can all point to the same EGDB.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

My goal is to get a print out of all polygons contained in EGDB's with the text "FFO" in the title. Since there are multiple polygons within my feature classes I will need to get in there to print out the individual polys, but it is a bit tricky since there are not good data standards in place and therefore it is not obvious what fieldname contains attributes that will give me pertinent information. Otherwise it is days of digging through multiple EGDB's and feature classes.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
