    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thank you for the quick reply.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The geoprocessing tool in ArcToolbox was exactly what I was looking for and worked like a charm.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Looking in the Features folder also made me aware of the Repair and Dice tools which were necessary to resolve the problem.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <title>Is there a way to use the editor explode operation to split a multipolygon into polygons?</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have a shapefile with very large multipolygons, &amp;gt;500K points, that contain many simpler polygons that could be split out for simpler processing.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This can be done in an ArcGIS editor session using the 'explode' advanced editing operation but this is tedious for many features.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;The geoprocessing tool equivalent is &lt;A href="http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/desktop/latest/tools/data-management-toolbox/multipart-to-singlepart.htm"&gt;Multipart to Singlepart&lt;/A&gt;. If that's not what you're after, please elaborate.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Just FYI, you can select multiple features to 'explode'.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
