      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;You could do a workaround by setting the selection symbol, saving to a .lyr file, and loading the layer and setting the source using arcpy.mapping. This is really the only way to mess with things not exposed as arcpy.mapping object methods.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
