Model Builder Rookie - Help loading seveal files

I am new to model builder and am trying to do a few simple things that I normally do just using the toolboxes but wanted to try and automate some things!

Basically I have a folder containing a large number of dxf's that I will use the CAD to Geodatabase Tool on. So when I add this tool to model builder it works fine, however the input is a ton of dxf's in my model! I don't really want this!

So what I would like to do is be able to look into a folder, locate all the .dxf files and populate them into the geodatabase.

This is what I did not want to happen. I just want to have it looking in the folder and finding all the .dxf's and then run my tool on them.

Can anyone help with this and show me how to do this in Model Builder?

Hi Gina,

I would try to use the Iterate Files iterator available in ArcGIS since 10.0. This should let you choose what folder you want to process and what file types (by extension you need) you want to use with a certain geoprocessing tool (in your case, the CAD to Geodatabase).

I have tried this, however it will not let me use the dxf extension, since it is recognized as an ArcGIS dataset.
Not sure how to get around this?

Try Iterate Datasets then
