How to add Labels

Hello All-

I have created a map- both in ARCMAP PRO and 10.6 (trying to learn Pro as I go along) Not sure which one is easier to do this in so I have both open-

The map has a bike path in it perimeter-

I need to add a labels such as-

1- start here

2- Kiosk #1 and so on

3- Then i need to place mile markers along the 9 mile path-

Do I need to make a layer for the labels ? if so how?

Or do I just drop a label where I need and add text to it?

I added a snip to show a little of what I am doing.

that would be done on the layout, not the map

You can add labels on the map in ArcMap, but currently not in Pro, which may or may not make this task easier in ArcMap.

Idea for Pro though:

If it's currently easier in ArcMap, then when this idea is implemented in Pro (No idea of when) the 2 pieces of software would probably then be equal for this specific task.
