topic Contour map in New to GIS Questions

Hello,

I am new in ArcGIS and for now I am working with bathymetry data. I am able to import csv file, make shape file, interpolate then make contour from raster.. However, the problem I'm facing now is that, whenever I do a contour, the program will assume or calculate outside of the actual data points and this gives odd lines outside of the actual data points. How can i clean those out and make my map look nice and neat?

Thank you

You can create a polygon with the area of interest and clip the data. This polygon feature class can also be used in your environment settings as mask.

Thank you for your help, but since I am new to arcgis can you please be more specific on how I can go about creating polygon and clipping the data? Or if you know of any site with written instructions on the topic please share.

Thank you very much.
