In Chapter 6, page 200 it says to use the Erase tool. When I click on it, it says that the tool is not accessible with my license. The result on this site for the file Proximity Zone is actually the result of Clip, not Erase and looks exactly like what I get with the Clip Tool. What's up with that?

Hi William,

The book uses some geoprocessing tools that require an ArcInfo license. The book comes with a code that allows you to download a 90-day version of ArcGIS with an ArcInfo license. If you're doing the book with an ArcView or ArcEditor license instead, you have to work around the ArcInfo functionality. Go the book's resource page and click the Using ArcView link under Book Resources. There's a PDF there with instructions that you can use in conjunction with the book.

Re Clip versus Erase: my results with Clip using LARiverBuffer and Parks_Buffer as inputs (in either order) are different from Erase. See attached graphic. What Clip tool parameters did you use? Thanks,

Tim
